Our Diversity & Inclusion Commitment to the Tech Talent Charter

test

Getting your hands on the smartest pool of experts is never easy, but with the Tech Talent Charter is certainly easier...

We believe that diversity and inclusion are essential components of a thriving tech industry and by joining the Tech Talent Charter we are proud to commit to driving change.  From collaborating and sharing learnings with other TTC signatories, to providing anonymous annual benchmarking data to track and measure our employee’s diversity profile, we hope our support has a positive influence on diversity and inclusion in the UK tech industry.

Why the Tech Talent Charter?

The UK’s tech industry is a dynamic landscape; however it faces challenges with talent shortages and lack of diversity.  The Tech Talent Charter’s goal aligns with our belief that the tech community should be a place where people from all backgrounds are valued for their unique perspectives and contributions.

Their research shows that just 19% of the UK tech workers are women and 18% of UK IT specialists are from ethnic minorities.  With UK tech vacancies hitting a 10 year high in June 2022, costing the UK economy £63 billion per year in lost GDP, access to all talent is needed to meet the demand for digital skills.

Their goal is for the UK tech ecosystem to be a diverse and inclusive community where people from all backgrounds are welcomed and valued for their contributions, and since its establishment in 2015 they now have over 800+ signatory organisations who are showing commitment to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.

By providing signatory organisations with concrete measurement and insights into diversity in the tech ecosystem and actionable ways forward by gathering, curating, and distributing innovative practices, techniques, and ideas, joining the TTC was an obvious choice.

Diversity Drives Innovation

At VIPR we firmly believe that diversity and innovation go hand in hand.  Diverse teams bring a broad range of perspectives, experiences and ideas to the table.  This fuels creativity and drives innovation, making us more adaptable in the fast-paced tech landscape.

Our commitment to the Tech Talent Charter is an integral part of our core values as an inclusive employer, creating a non-judgemental environment, where every opinion and voice is valued, employees can be their true self and are supported to reach their full potential.

What does this mean for VIPR?

As part of joining the Tech Talent Charter, we have made a commitment to collaborate with other signatory organisations and the TTC to share what has worked to drive diversity and inclusion in tech roles, contribute anonymised employment diversity data annually which feeds into their Diversity in Tech report and have a plan in place to improve inclusion to support the growth of a diverse workforce.

From promoting diversity and inclusion within our recruitment processes to fostering an inclusive culture, this opportunity to continue evolving and enhancing our initiatives alongside the Tech Talent Partner and their signatories is an exciting new step for VIPR and supporting inclusion in the UK tech landscape.
